Frequently
Asked Questions
Does an ICF
home cost more than conventional
construction?
A home built with
ICF construction adds about 4% to the cost of construction.
However, other costs such as energy usage and insurance are
reduced. Your total monthly costs (PITI and energy) will
usually be lower. Of course, you will also enjoy the
ongoing benefits of a strong, safe, quiet home. If and when
you decide to sell, your ICF home is worth more in the
marketplace.
How long will it take to
build my home?
The length of construction time will vary with the size and
complexity of the home. We encourage the use of
componentization which can save a significant number of
jobsite hours. Much of the structure of the home is built
at a local lumber company employing computer controlled
equipment and assembled at the jobsite. Not only is this
method quicker, the quality is better. Most homes will take
4-6 months to complete.
How much will my home
cost?
That is the most difficult question to answer here. It
depends primarily on the size, style, features and
materials used in the home. Square foot prices for a ICF
custom home can range from $125 to $150 or more. You can
buy a "tract home" for under $100/sq. ft. but, as always,
you get what you pay for. We would determine a "ballpark"
estimate of your home cost at our initial meeting. By the
way, there is no charge unless a contract is signed.
